sabah2In the quieter part of Antalya's Kaleiçi district near the headland overlooking the sea, the Sabah, run by three brothers, is a long-time independent traveller's favourite with a variety of rooms set round a courtyard where people can meet and exchange ideas at the end of the day. As elsewhere in Antalya, bits of the old Roman city crop up unexpectedly, here serving as bases for wooden columns supporting a verandah.

Excellent breakfasts are served in the adjacent Yemenli Restaurant which has an outdoor sitting area and a bistro-style indoor section. Lunches and dinners are also pretty good; the dinners come accompanied by live music of the sanat (arty) variety.sabah

Rooms are a little faded and the bathrooms could certainly do with an upgrade but there's aircon and the wi-fi works well in most areas.

This is a great place for the extra services travellers often need such as help with laundry, travel agency services and access to books and newspapers.

Thumbs up: Quiet location in historic area. Excellent breakfasts with lots of choice. Great meeting place.

Thumbs down: No hot water in sinks
