sahin1In a town with limited accommodation options, the high-rise Hotel Şahin in Osmaniye is the best choice in the town centre. Although it stands right on a main road if you ask for a quiet room there are some that look onto an adjoining building that are blissfully silent.

My bedroom was a purpose-designed single with more space than that usually means so that the bed was not up against the wall. All the amenities - air-con, TV and wifi - worked reasonably well and service was very willing. The L-shaped design of the room made it possible to squeeze in plenty of storage space as well as chair and table. Even the bathroom wasn't as small as one might have feared and actually managed a tub.

Breakfast is served in a big top-floor dining room decorated to suit wedding parties. You can look out on Osmaniye over your bread and cheese although that is not a particularly inspiring vista. As for the breakfast itself, it's pretty so-so - and I had to be quite assertive to get a Nescafe instead of tea (the second day I had to supply my own).

Thumbs up: Comfortable bedrooms in a central location

Thumbs down: A couple of steps up to the entrance make it tricky for disabled guests; could do with some deep cleansing; old-fashioned decor
