Old Yezidi village
South of Midyat in southeast Turkey, the virtually abandoned village of Bacın was once home to a population of Yezidis, dualists and believers in the Peacock Angel (Tavuk Meleği) for whom Wednesday is the most important day in the week.
At the end of a dirt road, Bacın has a certain picturesque charm. It's worth coming here anyway to see a rare surviving Yezidi temple, a small, unadorned circular building kept locked up in a walled garden where the trees are hung with rags presumably indicating prayers.
Transport info
There is no public transport to Bacın. You will need to hire a taxi in Midyat.
